Lessons in Love and Violence nominated for a Grammy Award!


George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence has been nominated for a Grammy Award in the category Best Opera Recording.

The world premiere of George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence took place at the Royal Opera House in May 2018.  The production brought together baritone Stéphane Degout as King, soprano Barbara Hannigan as Queen Isabel, Gyula Orendt as Gaveston and Peter Hoare as Mortimer.
Lessons in Love and Violence was released on the Opus Arte label at the beginning of 2019, with James Whitbourn as producer (Orchestra of the Royal Opera House).

Barbara won a Grammy award in 2018 with Crazy Girl Crazy, her debut album as soprano/conductor.
